Middle School Travel
Teams
WLBL is home to Blue Ridge (“Bulldogs”) Middle School and Harmony (“Hornets”) Middle Schools. All players who are zone to attend these schools and are in 6th, 7th or 8th grade are eligible to participate in tryouts and play within the Middle School Travel League. WLBL intends to field one team within each of the designated divisions below each season, pending that we have enough eligible and qualified players for each division. Below are the specific teams that WLBL will be holding tryouts for this season:

- Blue Ridge Boys 7th (“JV”)
- Blue Ridge Boys 8th (“Varsity”)
- Blue Ridge Girls JV (8th graders are not eligible)
- Blue Ridge Girls Varsity
- Harmony Boys 6th
- Harmony Boys 7th (“JV”)
- Harmony Boys 8th (“Varsity”)
- Harmony Girls JV (8th graders are not eligible)
- Harmony Girls Varsity
REGISTRATION
Participant registration for Middle School Travel is the same Registration as all other divisions. All registered players who are in 6th, 7th or 8th grade are welcome to tryout for their designated zoned team and grade when Tryouts are held for each team. You do not need to do a special registration, but you MUST be registered to participate in the tryouts.
TRYOUTS
All players who wish to be considered for any team MUST attend at least one tryout for the team they are being considered for. For example, this means that a 7th Grade Harmony Girl cannot attend tryouts for Blue Ridge and be considered in evaluations.
Each team will have a minimum of TWO tryout sessions, for approximately 1 hour or longer each at least 5+ days a part.

Players must attend at least one tryout to be evaluated
All tryouts are conducted by a third-party, former or current High School coaching staff with independent evaluators for each team.
COACHES
The WLBL board goes through a selection process to identify coaches for the Middle School Travel program. Coaches are announced once the teams have been formed.
SEASON SCHEDULE
Travel teams will play a longer schedule with 7 minute quarter games against other Loudoun County Middle School teams. Games are usually on Sunday’s with some occasional Saturday games as well and take place at Middle Schools all around Loudoun County, VA.
Within the rules of the Travel League, teams are allowed up to 3-hours of weekly practice time each week. In order to maximize the court space for travel teams this often means the WLBL travel teams are utilizing gyms not always within Purcellville (Harmony, Blue Ridge), but never further than Leesburg (Smarts Mill, Simpson, etc.). WLBL is the only Loudoun league that has ONE fully sized Middle School main court gym and this is shared with our house programs as well.
UNIFORMS & COSTS
The travel teams also use higher quality home & away uniforms with matching shorts and shooter shirts that are customized with a number they can select. These uniforms carry additional extra registration costs which also cover the higher costs for playing in the Travel league as each team participates in pre-season tournaments as well.
