Youth House League

Divisions

Youth Divisions are aligned based upon the GRADE that the registrant is during the season.  Due to the anticipated size of registrations in the Girls divisions we combine 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade divisions together.  For the Boys only 1st/2nd is combined.

As has been the history of WLBL, we assign custom team names and different colored uniforms for each of our house league teams.  This community staple of seeing the youth wearing their uniforms at local events, restaurants, stores and in schools has been a strong foundation of the Western Loudoun Basketball League.

REGISTRATION

Participant registration for Youth House Leagues is the same Registration as all other divisions.

Refunds are not given after registration closes.

TEAM SELECTIONS

WLBL holds player evaluations in late October on weekends to conduct player assessments that help coaches and the league with the intent of forming balanced teams while allowing the flexibility for coaches to do their evaluations and player selections.

The league does utilize outside resources to help collect independent data as well and to manage the schedule for player assessments which has helped improved our process over the years in forming our teams each season.

It is imperative that we have the maximum possible participation with limited time from players registered in each division to allow for the most balanced divisions.

COACHES & PRACTICES

All coaches within the house division go through an application and approval process.  Each coach is a volunteer coach, who the league offers teaching assistance and guides on how to not only teach instructive basketball skills but also serve as a proper leader and adult influence on the youth in our league.

Each coach is given the ability to submit their preferred practice requests (such as day of week or any other known conflicts) and the league makes every effort to ensure that our coaches are able to balance their time so that they can give the best commitment to the players in our league.

We do NOT accommodate or entertain specific player requests on team placement, practice locations, practice times or any other carpool or related requests.

Each team is given TWO full practices each week at a gym located within our allocation from Loudoun County PRCS.  In prior seasons this has included these gyms as the primary locations (Harmony MS, Blue Ridge MS, Emerick ES, Round Hill ES, Hamilton ES, Mountain View ES, Catoctin ES, Simpson MS, Smarts Mill MS)
