FAQ

When does registration close?

October 15th or sooner depending upon capacity limits being reached in divisions.

When Do Practices Begin?

Practices begin mid-November.  House teams typically will have two practices per week totaling 2 hours in gym space with exceptions for when Schools have blackouts or LCPS had holidays preventing us from using the gyms.

If schools are CLOSED then WLBL is closed.  Teacher work days do not count as schools being closed, but for Holiday closures we do not have practices or games.

When do games begin?

Games will begin the first Saturday in December and run through early March.

Can I make a special request for practice times?

We understand that as parents you are busy and especially those with multiple children playing it can be difficult to get them to various locations at various times throughout the week.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to honor each and every individual request for special requests to have teams practice at the same time or location or on specific nights of the week.

Why am I practicing until 9:15pm?

WLBL along with other Non-Profit Youth Sports leagues in Loudoun County are required to work with Parks and Rec for our gym allocations.

The use of facilities for Youth Sports comes secondary to what the Schools need to use their space for each day, to include after school care and other school related activities.  Thus in many cases we cannot begin practices until 6pm or later in some gyms and must utilize the 8:15 to 9:15 time window.

Our priority is to have younger kids practicing in the earlier time slots.  Contrary to any thoughts that the schedule is not taken seriously I can assure you this process has been well vetted for decades and we don’t just randomly assign space without taking into consideration the impact that it has on families.

When do we receive uniforms?

Uniforms are distributed prior to the first game to coaches.

We’re gonna not play, can we have a refund?

Each player registration carries a fee associated with LC PRCS as well as overhead costs for equipment, insurance, officials and more that WLBL must budget for each season.  Once registration deadline closes, we cannot offer refunds.

How can I volunteer to help?

Coach.

Be an assistant coach.

Help encourage your own child and their peers each week as a spectator.

The best way to volunteer to help with the WLBL organization is simply to help us avoid problems each week.

Don’t let your children who are at the gym watching their siblings play run around the schools unattended.

Don’t yell at the officials like you would watching a game at home.

Don’t bad mouth your coach in front of your children on the way home from a practice or game.

It might sound odd to hear that, but those are the things which make the program harder to run each and every season.

We are always looking to develop and train new future Commissioners and Board Members and if interested please reach out to the President for more information.  But at the end of the day, every member of the league can be a positive asset and the league is not the Board, the league is the players and their families.
